Are you making a fangame/hack?
I am not making a fangame or hack. However, I am in the slow process of working on my region, tilesets, and sprites for use on an MMO where it will be playable! Things are going very, very slow so don't expect it to be ready soon.
Will you help me with my fangame/hack?
Sorry, I just do not have time to work on other fangames/hacks. I'm busy with my own personal projects.
Do you have any Fakemon tutorials?
The only tutorial I have is on cooring and shading in my style. You can find that tutorial here. I don't plan on making a tutorial on creating Fakemon at this time.
What inspired you to create Fakemon?
Ever since I was little, I always wanted to make my own Pokémon (Haven't we all?). So I began drawing some but I sucked. I found inspiration to keep on drawing. One of my main inspirations was PokePages (formerly MagesPages) who was like the Fakemon God when I first joined DeviantArt back in 2006. When he faved one of my artworks, I freaked and I knew I had to keep going on and making more Fakemon. Now look where I am. All my watchers and supporters keep me going. They are my inspiration.
How do you come up with your Fakemon designs?
Usually I envision it in my head first, taking some inspiration from other monster designs from many varied games. Then I try to envision it how the Pokemon designers would design them. Studying a lot of the official Pokémon designs helps. I make sure it's not too complex. Be creative, be unique. Try to think of designs no one has ever done. You would also have to think of a great concept. Let's say you want to make a Fakemon based on a dog, very basic but a bit boring. Think of a purpose for its design. Let's say you want it to be some sort of lifeguard. Then you would probably make its collar an inflatable or maybe even inflatables around its arms/legs. And maybe add a special touch like the nose area could be white, like the stereotypical lifeguards having sunscreen on their nose. Something like that. Play around with your ideas until you are satisfied. Just have fun with it!
Art and Drawing
What tablet do you use?
I currently use a Wacom Intuos Pro.
What size canvas do you use?
I usually work on a 3000x3000 pixel canvas at 300 dpi for my Fakemon. I don't use the entire canvas. Normally for small Fakemon, I fit them around 2000x2000. More medium-sized Fakemon, I work in 2500x2500. And for larger Fakemon, it's 3000x3000. For other artworks, I usually work on the same size canvas or larger depending on what I wanna draw.
What programs do you use?
For drawing I use Paint Tool SAI and I use Adobe Photoshop CS5 Extended for spriting and graphics.
How long have you been drawing?
I've been drawing since a very young age. I was about 4 when I began drawing. I first drew lots of dinosaurs because I was such a huge fan of them since Jurassic Park. I still love dinosaurs to this day.
Can you do an art trade/collab with me?
It depends if I'm busy or not and usually I only do art trades and collabs with people I know.
Did you take any art classes?
Yeah, I guess. Just art electives throughout intermediate and high school. In 5th grade, I used to go to my art teacher's studio with other classmates after school to paint and work on art. Anyways, yeah the art classes in school are the only art classes I took.
Will you draw something for me?
Sorry, I don't do requests. If you are interested in commissions, please check out the information page regarding my commissions here.
Will you teach me how to draw?
I don't have time to teach but I can give some tips. Just practice a lot! Practice makes better. Do lots of drawing exercises like drawing from a referenced photograph, drawing still life, etc. Remember, practice takes patience so take your time. It's okay to be frustrated. Keep on practicing, it'll payoff in the future I'm sure.
How long does it take to finish an artwork?
For my Fakemon, usually about half an hour, more or less. For my other works, it depends. Usually it takes about 3-5 days for like characters and such (depending how motivated I am, haha). But a full on artwork with scenery and such could take several days to maybe weeks.
Where are you from?
I'm from Maui, Hawaii. Born and raised here my whole life. I would love to travel and live in other places for a while.
What ethnicity are you?
I am Filipino with a small pinch of Hispanic. Though I'm not really too sure about it and I want to take a DNA test.
Are you currently going to school?
No. I dropped out of high school. I plan to get my GED but that's not urgent to me at this moment. I do would like to go to some art school but I just hate school so much, haha.
Do you speak any foreign languages?
I took French 1 and 2 in high school. I used to know a lot but slowly forgot most of what I learned. Right now I'm interested in learning Korean. 개새끼.
